The irony of two ICE agents, one black and one seemingly a Cuban immigrant, racially profiling a black man and cuffing him and carting him off without ever even identifying him because they say he’s an immigrant.

It kills me how often these videos show brown and black ICE agents violating the US Constitution to abduct and beat people for being brown or black. I don’t care how much ICE pays, it’s not worth selling out your own values and everything that was supposed to be good about this country.

Yeah, I’ve been called those same slurs and them being used on anyone doesn’t strike me as funny. It’s shit. A whole lot of people and families are hurting for money and ICE is offering a lot of that with zero training or experience.

These people aren’t selling out people like themselves because they think it will keep them safe from anything. Most of them are probably doing it for the same reason any of us work awful jobs.

Their kids were hungry and they had no money, saw a sign, applied half sarcastically, then actually got a job offer back for more than most people in the country make, starting next week.

It’s not people being pieces of shit, it’s starving prisoners ratting on each other’s escape plans to get an extra crust of bread and not starve.

Bunch of BS. I don’t feel bad for ICE agents at all. They could have done literally anything else and made it work, take on two jobs, whatever - but they chose to be a Nazi and to work for Nazis. None of them deserve any sympathy.

They didn’t join because they are desperate, they joined because it matches their fucked up ideologies.

You’re saying that to someone with the display name “Trump Rapes Kids” who posted this fucking video in the first place. Try to think a little deeper than some meme you read once. Read some philosophy, sociology, and ethics. Learn. Please.

If you think reading, learning, and having an actual educated point of view on sociology and ethics of a situation are the tools of your enemy, you’ve lost the plot.

It’s insane that you folks seem to believe every single person who works for a genocidal regime is doing it because they’re an evil person and it just makes them happy to do evil things. It’s how a child looks at history.

People who do evil things don’t get to use the excuse they were just following orders, because they still did those things. But most people end up signing on because they need stability and an income. It’s a lot harder to whip up a genocidal army in a country with no poverty.

Plenty of people making over 400k/yr are completely horrible human beings, and they aren’t signing on for ICE because it would be a huge drop in their income. Many people living in poverty are mostly decent people and sign on because they feel they have no choice.

Understanding what leads evil groups to grow is sort of important, but if anyone dares say words with more depth and nuance than “I hates nazis!” a horde of people who have a tough time reading many words decide they must be trying to say genocide is alright and start this angsty childish shit.

Fully agree with this, but I’d like to add that signing up (without plans to sabotage) is already inexcusable (though I’m not arguing that it’s irredeemable- if we were to have a really effective denazification program, I don’t think every ICE officer is beyond rehabilitation), even if it’s understandable.

I don’t know if the word “hate” is fair, but I feel about ICE the way I’ve always felt about the US military- fuck ‘em, they’re class traitors. At least with the military, most people join at or just before age 18 and they’re shown a very utopian image of the military beforehand. People joining ICE don’t have those excuses.

Yes, they’re desperate and acting out of desperation and yes, the cause for this is both systemic and heavily supported by the bourgeoisie, who are the ultimate problem. If I don’t excuse an 18 year old for signing up to terrorize brown people in order to get healthcare and access to education, I’m not going to excuse a 35 year old for signing up for the same in order to get $50k.

Most parents would rather assault a stranger than tell their kids it’s time to go live on the streets and if they’re lucky they can find a shelter to get a meal sometime soon.

It’s very easy to call others irredeemable or inhuman when you view them as “class traitors” and see their acts as inexcusable. That’s another reason forming a genocidal mob out of angry, poor, defensive people is much easier. But hate without caring to understand and try to make things better is just signing up to hurt people you see as being bad people, which is the same thing we dislike so much about many of them.

You can point to reasons you feel justified in it and more right and righteous than the other side, and they can point to their own reasons. Two sides doing that with no one willing to understand and try to make things different only ends up with even more suffering and dead bodies.

And you don’t seem to understand that desperation is no excuse. Plenty of people are desperate, they don’t join the machine that makes them desperate, and make it worse for everyone else, they fight back.

Those that join The Machine are cowards, and if The Machine is as bad as MAGA, then they are also traitors and pedophiles.

And you don’t seem to understand that desperation is no excuse

This is exactly what I meant when I said anyone who dares to say words with nuance or depth gets jumped on.

I never said it was an excuse. Nothing in any of my comments says or implies that. I very literally and directly said these people don’t get to use claiming they were just following orders as an excuse for evil actions.

Trying to understand why people sign up with groups like this is important if you want to stop them and learn how to keep the same thing from happening over and over again. Trying to understand the reasoning behind a person doing awful things isn’t excusing those things.

You’re just so full of hate that you see lots of words and they seem confusing so you get angry and think the other person is “part of the problem.” Don’t become the thing you hate. That’s how those MAGA folks act. If learning the roots of how a genocidal army forms and grows and understanding that the people doing these things are human and have human reasons for doing them is something you think is a problem then you’re starting to see education as the enemy just as much as they do. That’s not a good thing.

No, it’s not. A lot of those places around here have gone to having 2-3 employees and making you do everything through their app before you show up.

If you have to feed your kids you’re willing to do awful shit to manage that if you feel you have no other way. Most parents would rather beat a stranger than tell their kids to grab a few things cause it’s time to walk out the door and be homeless.

Do you have children? Do you think if you suddenly had no income and was about to lose your home with no family to turn to and nowhere to take them you could keep all of your bills paid in a stable manner by stealing from the rich?

It’s really easy to be a keyboard warrior and say all the badass awesome things you’d do to keep your morals in a terrible situation while needing to keep your kids fed and safe and cared for when you have more than enough money to live and no kids in the first place.

I’m tired of writing responses to everyone, so I’m just going to lazy copy/paste:

I never said any word excusing their actions. Trying to understand a thing is not excusing a thing. Trying to understand what caused a man to stab his kids doesn’t magically make him having done that okay.

I don’t understand what this is. It’s like some weird tribalism. If someone tries to understand what causes normal humans to join and do evil instead of chanting the approved script they get seen as bad.

If you care that a roof collapsed and want to keep that tragedy from reoccurring, you study the schematics and the local environment and weather and capacity and try to understand what caused it so you can design things better in the future. If you want to keep genocidal regimes from growing and try to do the same thing, people now say you’re trying to defend their actions.

How does that make sense to you? When did understanding and nuance and thought on the sociology and psychology behind things become something so many on the left started to see as an enemy?

Understanding is not excusing. Understanding why the roof collapsed doesn’t make it alright that it killed dozens of people. Understanding why a man snapped and stabbed his own children to death doesn’t cause us to go “Aww, it’s okay buddy.” Understanding why people join evil regimes and do evil things doesn’t excuse any of their actions.

But if you actually give a shit about stopping it long term and finding a way to build better and make it less likely to grow and keep happening in the future, understanding is vital.

You’re actually asking if someone condemns abducting people into concentration camps and gunning down random innocent people in broad daylight in the middle of the street?

Lets see my recent post and comment history:

                    • Posting this video
                    • Me getting lots of hate for asking people not to use slurs
                    • Getting lots more hate for pointing out racist and homophobic memes that are still up
                    • Posting news about the head Rabbi in Israel claiming Palestinians aren’t a real people and have no rights
                    • Getting hate again for trying to explain Karl Popper and the necessity of tolerance in society but also the necessity to not be tolerant of violent acts against people or groups or attempts to define some as lesser
                    • Mocking Trump
                    • Mocking Meta
                    • Calling out Google’s AI for giving racist responses
                    • Posting Ms. Rachel asking people to give a shit about all the black people being found hanged from trees

What do you see that leads you to believe that’s a sane or reasonable question? Of course I condemn killing innocent people in the street and abducting people randomly based mostly on skin color to concentration camps.

You seem so eager to see people as evil you’ve completely lost your capacity for reasoning.

YOU are literally the original poster here, of something showing ICE agents not doing anything remotely legal. If there exists a “good” ICE agent out there, they are confirming their visits, knowing and operating within their legal reach, and stopping at least their immediate coworkers from clearly illegal activity. These two are not “just in a bad situation”, they’re garbage people who joined the oppressors to participate in the oppression.

The cruelty of ICE and police is voluntary one, and one that is all too often practiced with glee.

Why do so many of you react with hatred of nuance and thought? Do you think that understanding what drives normal people to be willing to do things like shown in this video doesn’t matter or is somehow bad?

I never said a single word excusing their actions. If you care that groups like this don’t grow and more like it don’t keep forming over time than it’s sort of important to understand how they manage to recruit average normal human beings and push them to act like this.

The bulk of humanity is not just secretly evil. They’re people. They need to pay their bills and feed their kids. They need to afford skyrocketing rent, grocery, and utility prices. Most humans would rather put on a mask and assault a stranger than tell their kids it’s time to go live on the street and hopefully they can find a charity to get a meal sometime in the next day or so.

Understanding that isn’t excusing evil actions. I don’t understand why so many of you are willing to jump in with anger and hate and no thought. Like you said, I posted the fucking video in the first place. I’d think that would give you pause before making this "you’re bad!* response, but it seems that even that didn’t.

Literally you did excuse them, or at the very least attempt to argue that they’re being forced to behave this way under threat of poverty(which is trying to absolve them of reaponsibility, which is definitionally an excuse). This isn’t working at Walmart so you can put food on the table, it’s getting your wage from illegally attacking visible minorities in a million colourful ways. They’re doing that shit for the love of the game.

I’m all for nuance of thought, but clearly no thinking was done so I’m not sure what you’re mad about.
