This is one of the most depressing aspects of life. All of these services we pay no longer care at all about us - we have no options. They give us AI support only, poorly functioning apps where you can’t even find how to complain or make a ticket.

I don’t know how it gets fixed. Soon we will all work for them.

            After they empty whose pockets?

Door dash is a shit service, all it takes is one person to put them on blast with the truth.

I have never ordered a god damn thing from Uber or Dash after heading how shit it was from others.

It gets fixed by no longer using them. Money is all a corporation understands.

If they make more $ cutting support costs and pissing off some customers than to have support staff and higher costs and more customers, then they will do it.

Infinite growth, my friend. All that matters to most if them.

At least where I live, there are alternative delivery platforms, and there are also plenty of restaurants doing their own delivery. The competition means that customers generally get decent service in my experience, although support usually goes through the restaurants. I feel like the ones getting fucked over by these delivery platforms are the delivery drivers and restaurants, not the customers.

We got by before these shitty companies existed. I’m sure we can survive not using them.

I do use them on occasion but prefer to order something local and pick it up myself. No markup and some places even give a discount on pick up orders.

The vast majority of their customers are using it for convenience, not out of need.

Paying $45 to have $20 worth of shitty McDonald’s “food” delivered seems stupid to me, but some people have money to burn, I guess.

In the middle of Covid, this happened

Which when I went to the door, I found this on the mat exactly as it looks here, except I moved it to the sink because it was making a mess.

I never found out which of my neighbours missed their order, because it wasn’t any service I’d ever use, even if ordering a completely non-essential item like this was a waste of resources.

But fuck that guy who ‘delivered’ it by obviously dropping it before in his car and then throwing it on my doorstep!!

You give them too much credit, they can only think of themselves, the issue is, they can’t and won’t think of anyone else.

If they would stop and think enough that those people come up, other more important people SHOULD come first, yeah?

I probably do give them too much credit, but to me it felt like they were complaining about “the lazy youths”. There’s probably people who need medicine delivered thru these apps, idk if they were mentioned yet.

But I don’t fault someone for not trying to consider every group of people that might benefit or need a service before making a disparaging statement.

You can walk the dogs and garden, but not having take out delivered is a horror beyond comprehension? And nowhere else in page after page of your history do you say you are disabled. It is also not in your profile. I’m calling bullshit.

What also is in your history, is page after page of “deleted by mod”. You must be a real piece of work.

Also an attitude score of 6%???

        From your comment history:

        https://lemmy.world/comment/24983943

"I’ve got neurodivergent kids, so I get up at 5 to be able to walk the dogs and still get a little me time till needing to deal with the kids at 7. One can be a handful before his meds kick in.

Wish they could be trusted alone at home more so I can sleep in, but at that point my routine and “ritual” is disturbed. So I don’t know haha."

I’ve stated multiple times in my comments that I have carpal tunnel, it’s an invisible disability, getting help is hard enough since I’m not the stereotypical in a wheelchair disabled. Fuck you.

Can a person with a broken foot still not go for a walk? Even though it’s painful? In fact it’s encouraged for exercise! Shows how little you know who think about others.

Driving is painful, I do it when I have to. You clearly have zero empathy for others, especially others less abled than you.

You’re a piece of shit for going through and cherry picking my comments like this, thanks for proving my original point though. There’s plenty of comments where I talk about, and I guess since I don’t want to label myself, I’m not? Yeah fuck you.

And I use a walking harness for my dogs so I’m not holding leashes in my hands, I do what I can so I can still live my life. But than there’s absolute assholes like you that think I need to justify myself. Fuck you.

we encourage Dashers to wait a few minutes

How much do you pay them for waiting to compensate for the money they’d get delivering other items? (Your customers also have the app where they confirm delivery and tip so it’s not like Dashers will slack off for 3 minutes after handing the food over)

In a small company, one could call this wishful thinking. In a large data-driven corporation, it’s a calculated lie.

I find it incredible that every time I see a bad food delivery story, its always from doordash.

It’s very regional. Where I live, Doordash and Grubhub rarely lets me down.

Ubereats has repeatedly sent their drivers to completely the wrong neighborhood. The first time we used them the food was delivered across the street and three houses down. We didn’t even know where it went until hours later when a neighbor showed up with it.

I’ve only used door dash like 3 times, and it was uneventful.

I used ubereats a lot, especially early covid, before the price gouging and explotation set in, and I only had like…two issues.

One was the driver, whom i was watching on the map, took a right turn when they should have gone straight, and disappeared off the map. Straight up stole my food, and the restaurant had to remake it and reorder it… and i think the driver that delivered that order had some knowledge of the first, thieving driver, cause the second he got out of the car he was nothing but excuses for the other driver.

the other one was we got just a shit awful meal from a restaurant, completely inedible. Some parts overcooked to charcoal, other parts still fuckin raw… Uber eats denied any refund or anything despite pictures showing the very obvious issues, because apparently I had ordered from the same place like 18 months previously and got a refund because a side order wasnt delievered… Which uber used to low key accuse me without outright accusing me of trying to scam them and the restaurant and denying my refund.

Which not gonna lie, really pissed me off and pretty much lead to me not using ubereats outside of exceptionally rare circumstances after that issue
