Unmatched someone: I was talking about how the movie Avatar is a blatant allegory for native/indigenous populations and the person got offended that I would “put real life events into a movie about blue people”
Been unmatched: the person had a series of 4 almost identical selfies but each one had different anime boys edited in as if they were hanging out (amazing bit. Perfect joke) and my opening line was “i hate when people have only group photos. It makes it so difficult to tell when one I matched with”. I was called an idiot and unmatched within 5 minutes.
A girl canceled a date once because I’m not on Facebook or anything else. (I asked her out in person).
She combed through socials as a kind of background check and interpreted my absence as suspicious. Modern problems.
What’s interesting is that both perspectives are valid. Of course she could have asked why you don’t have social media, and when you spout off about privacy and big tech then she would cancel for a different reason.
Or you’d spend a nice weekend configuring a new Gentoo system
Yeah this is legit a thing cheaters do apparently. I just don’t want patients finding my favorite cafe in my likes ok 😭 honestly sometimes my husband pisses me tf off but at least I’m not rummaging in the mystery grab bag anymore.
Internet is a hostile enough place that not having a social media presence is a valid lifestyle. Like, I don’t want to be assumed as a cheater just cause I’m trying to preserve my sanity😭.
Same here.
You dodged a bullet.
She works for the DHS?
In her introduction she made it a point to mention that she’s an INTP and wanted to know what type I was. I simply said that those types of personality tests aren’t really my thing. I got a reply back, something to the effect of “Well thanks for showing up front what a toxic and hateful human being you are!”
So yeah guys, sorry about being so toxic and hateful for not being into personality tests.
Lol, I used to work for a big corporation which made these tests (16 personalities in specific) mandatory during job training. After I debunked that shite as bogus I got the afternoon off.
I worked for one of those companies that paid like 15k per employee to spend like half a day figuring out which of 5 types you are. Somehow I got all 5 and confused quite a few people.
I got “The Mediator” or something and my boss got mad at me for being an “arty farty hippie”. Apparently the correct answer was to be “The Analyst” like my coworkers
Pretty emotional for a T
Pretty judgemental for a P.
Even if you were, you’d probably still get rejected for not being whatever arbitrary letter combination she was looking for.
lol that’s so stupid.
And the Myers-Briggs isn’t even a good one. Those two ladies just made it the fuck up during World War 2, based on some Carl Jung book. It has no predictive power.
While I agree those ladies were a bunch of loonies, I don’t think the test is supposed to be predictive (this is how you will be), rather descriptive (this is how you are).
Although I’ve had this same argument with people over the function of dictionaries being descriptive (this is how words are used) rather than prescriptive (this is how you should use words).
I don’t think this is comparable to descriptivism and prescriptivism in linguistics.
The predictive power of a classification doesn’t have anything to do chronological order of what you are now and how you will develop, but about if knowing one thing (the MBTI) allows to deduce another (age, socioeconomic status, interests, vocational suitability, whatever). In other words predictive power is about correlations and testable outcomes.
If a psychological test leads to a result that does not predict other statistical values about a person, it does not actually capture anything that person is, at least nothing that’s verifiable or falsifiable.
And if it’s not verifiable or falsifiable we might as well use zodiac signs.
Hmm, I see what you’re putting down. I may have to revise my thoughts on the matter. Thanks.
It’s about as descriptive as an astrology sign. Self-fulfilling prophecies are a helluva drug
Edit: Sorry, meant to respond to the person above.
Even if I wanted to play along, I wouldn’t be able to answer immediately and have to take the test just to find out.
Well she showed what personality type she is, unstable.
i have a couple of women on dating apps who repeatedly match me then accusing me of being someone else and threaten to report me. I block them.
also lots of them IRL and on dating apps refuse to interact with me further once they find out where I grew up or that my parents aren’t educated. because that means i’m not from a ‘good family’. I also find this totally insane… but I guess it’s fairly normal for people to judge you based on your parents/hometown?
I will say the weirdest fight I ever got in in a relationship/dating was a Russian woman who lost it on me because I eat breakfast cereal. She went on this rant about how cereal/granola is for children and grown men can only eat toast, fruit, or eggs/sausage breakfast. She was so weird, but a every Russian woman I have dated has really backwards ideas about gender roles and they also disapproved of my lack of heavy drinking.
Wtf? I feel like where someone is from matters the least out of any dating quality when searching for a partner.
Honestly if anything growing up a certain way and then no longer being that shows growth and willingness to change. Both good qualities.
according to the women I meet you can’t ever change. probably because they themselves haven’t ever changed.
like I have had people argue with me that I am a Catholic because I was born into a catholic family and baptized, even though I haven’t ever been to church since I was like 10 years old. they tell me I’m lying to myself when I say I’m agnostic/atheist. It’s weird.
My last relationship ended because I told her I used to smoke weed. When I met her, I had already been about 18 months without a smoke, we didn’t start dating until 6 months after first getting to know each others. So by the time things got “official” I had been about 2 years without a single smoke. But according to her, that was a deal breaker and apparently people can’t change, I think she was trying to tell me that I’ll start smoking at any moment now.
Well, I guess she was right, since last weekend I smoked two joints, one on Friday and one on the Saturday. But this was about 14 months after we broke up. But yeah, she was totally correct with that one. The only good thing was that we were officially dating for like 6 to 8 weeks, so it wasn’t like a huge loss and devastation.
Anyway, that sort of put me off from dating, probably for good. I decided that if someone knocks on my door and tells me that we are now dating, I’ll try it out. But I won’t be seeking anything anymore. Its not worth the hassle at this point, I’m getting too old and I’m a introvert anyway. I’m fine with hanging alone at home, I can listen to whatever music I want, I can watch whatever movie/tv-show I want, I can play whatever game I like, I come and go however I want.
I mean, the Catholic kids who had to take CCD class after school tried to tell me the same thing, but we were 7. I’ve never had an adult tell me that parental religion is inescapable.
Wtf!? I have type 2 diabetes and I still can’t resist some peanut butter crunch on occasion
I bought some healthy coca based cereal (the kind that is priced like steak) but my wife likes Cpt Crunch peanut butter cereal. So I make a 50-50 mix of the two and get a peanut butter cup type result that is slightly healthier. :D
every Russian woman I have dated has really backwards ideas about gender roles and they also disapproved of my lack of heavy drinking
That’s very sad.
got a match and first question was if I was an EU citizen, I am, but decided to reply “no” just for fun. Then she asked me if I was here legally and on the path of citizenship, I replied yes just to see where this was going.
“alright, contact me again when you’re an EU citizen”
It must be hard out there for people with a citizenship kink.
“No, I’m not going to use it for crime, I just need a realistic passport because my girlfriend is kind of a freak.”
Those Laibach passports are great for this tbh.
Maybe they’ve run into too many people looking for citizenship via marriage.
Vegan kinkster unmatching people with a leather kink.
I have no way to confirm accuracy but this made me wonder how much cow hide is thrown away and not made into leather. About 15% apparently ends up not being worth the shipping and such so it ends up in landfills. Millions of cows having wasted parts, all because every American doesn’t have a proper leather kink… Sheesh
The landfill bit strikes me as unlikely. Almost nothing on butchered animals goes to waste these days, getting rendered into glue seems more likely a date than landfill in my mind. I am open to the possibility im wrong, but would take a lot of evidence.
This seemed to elude to the demand for leather slowing and the supply staying the same. We export way more than import. There is a PDF linked in there that shows where their information stems from. I will say I didnt read all of the PDF not sure if I got tired or bored reading it, haha. https://usleather.org/news-events/if-we-stopped-using-leather-would-fewer-cattle-be-reared
Valid take btw ^
Username checks out
It’s weird when kink people kink shame others
kink shaming is my kink
I don’t know where not kink shaming comes from, some kinks deserve shame. Be safe.
I have no social media and that’s a red flag apparently
Shit, this girl worked at a police station and got upset, nearly canceled our meetup because I had no criminal record.
When we met up, she refused to go get food or drinks. Instead, she took me to a secluded park and let me know she was carrying two guns.
I said a shootout was a weird first date activity and I would have rather gone bowling. She took me back to the hotel, but offered to get me Taco Bell on the way back.
She then wouldn’t respond the next day, which the entire point of the trip was to go to a museum I wanted to see.
It was my birthday trip and she just happened to be along the route. I went to the museum alone and had a blast.
“She took me back to the hotel” could mean two wildly different outcomes. I can’t tell if you mean she ended the date immediately or you two had sex in a hotel and then she ghosted you.
Though either way, her deciding on her own that she didn’t want anything to do with you was a bullet dodge, considering she not only used police resources to try to look you up but even scolded you about it, making it clear she either didn’t think there was any problem with it or didn’t think she’d face any consequences.
She tried to buy me Taco Bell and she tried to kiss me. She took me back my hotel room. I wanted nothing to do with that crazy shit.
I figured the museum would be saner the next day as her daughter was to join us. She didn’t answer, I shrugged and went.
She texted me the day after. I just blocked her. So it goes.
I have gotten hit with that one too!
Unfortunately, on dating apps, it kinda is. Lots of people who are looking cheat claim they’re “not into social media” because if they shared their social media, you’d see their partner. It’s BS and unfair, but I can see how people get there.
it was a couple. we vibed, i stayed over one night at their house, got drunk at their bar and set a bunch of alarms on their Google nest. it was really nice to experience something that was entirely my fault
set a bunch of alarms on their Google nest.
Whats that?
I couldn’t take off next month and fly to another continent
That’s very selfish of you
I just blocked them too
ive never used one but I knew a guy who did not like who killed roger rabbit because it was to unrealistic.
I, too, am mad that I can’t date Jessica Rabbit

WOW
Took me a while to look at her name. Bravo though.
Why did you text her so much when she said that off the bat? Also texting someone at 3am?
It’s pretty cringy and gross. And I’m a guy on Lemmy saying that
Cocaine is a hell of a drug
You are my hero
Well they did say they were a potato.
I’m so glad I got married before the dating apps became the norm.
I unmatched a woman IRL face-to-face because she told me (in one unbroken monologue) that she slept with a co-worker in Sydney while she was visiting a regional office and that she attends SLAA meetings and that was her first slip in 3 months and that she’s also a psychic medium and she’s building a website to list her mediumship services, and she is obsessed with marvel movies. Then she asked me to go get a coffee with her
No one part of this is too much of a red flag, but all of it together, and she knows I’m good with tech and can build a website with my eyes closed, I probably would have ended up doing a bunch of web work for free. Plus I really don’t think that medium people are talking with the dead, at best it’s a hallucination or a lie, at worst it’s a trickster entity that should not be interacted with under any circumstance.
So I just peaced out and I feel like I made a good choice.
Psychic medium is a huge red flag. They’re the worst kind of grifter, preying on the bereaved and desperate.
So I just peaced out
Lol. I’m curious how that conversation went
I just said “Uhh no thanks, I have to go now.” And walked away like homer melting into the hedge.
She texted me a bunch after that but I just ignored them.
Because I was in the Navy at the time. Not wanting to date someone in the military isn’t a bad thing, I get that. But I talked about it in my profile and had several pictures of me on the ship in uniform. Then weird part was that when we met for our first date and it came up in conversation she acted like I had kept it secret. Really fucking weird.
She told me that her favorite comedian was Jeff Dunham and that she didn’t like reading.
I also hate it when people say the same thing twice in a row.
LOL! well done
About 3 lines in back and forth the girl said “by the way, I don’t and won’t ever give head”. I said thats kind of a deal breaker and she unmatched me.
Seems a good way to make red lines clear, no? Personally i think head is just so… artificial
Giving head as a sex act is a physical manifestation of putting someone before yourself. There a lots of valid reasons why someone wouldn’t want to give/receive it, but the mechanic at work here I think is how that was the first thing she decided to share. Kind of a weird line in the sand to draw immediately lol
I dunno. Giving head almost feels selfish to me, like I’m vamping their chi and banking it.
I get direct control of their pleasure epicenter and a front-row seat for every orgasm I cultivate and (harvest? extract? whatever).
And aside from getting to feast on their pleasure, getting excellent sensory feedback (body, scent, taste, etc), tbh it’s just hugely fulfilling to take the intimacy they trusted me with and give it back as a memorable experience.
I’m competitive, and basically a succubus, but IMO anything less than partner-centric sex leaves too much on the table to be worthwhile. QED
Selfish? For giving head? They’re a lucky guy/gal
As someone with an Arrow to the knee since basically before tinder existed i thought that’s just efficiency in flirting nowadays haha
I don’t disagree with the first part. The second I couldn’t be more on a different page with ya. I like getting head as much as any sex act. More than most other things in fact. I could deep dive into why but absolutely nobody cares.
I care.
Oral sex is objectively superior to penetrative sex in several ways and I’m tired of pretending it’s not, tbh
Thanks fam
Let’s hear it. I care too.
