There need to be real consequences for this. This is mass propaganda that affects geopolitics, interferes in elections, undermines democracy and encourages people into a worldview that is destined for conflict.

I’d say controlled by is more accurate, because the people who factually rule the US are not based outside of the US.

I got your point, just tried to make the distinction between ruling and controlling, because in my eyes the verb ruling is for those who are factually in charge (the people in official positions) and controlling is a better fit for those that are de facto in charge (oligarchs, international corpo’s, foreign state actors etc).

“Everyone with whom I disagree is a Russian troll” and other utterly deranged things Americans say.

Your country was happily supporting fascism in my homeland, Spain, and now becomes fascist itself. But sure, the problem of fascism in America is caused by le evil Ruzzians, no accountability in your own nation. We’re talking fucking twitter too, a literal american social network owned by fucking Musk, but the problem of everything is Ruzzia now. Ruzzia is the new “Judeobolshevism”.

They are not from the US as far I know

Also, this case is somewhat interesting, because I believe there definitely is part of propaganda that targets Americans and originates from the US itself.

That doesn’t mean that blatant propaganda is fine, be it from Putin, from Trump, or any of the others

            вахтера so mad.

“Why u blame Ruzzia, Ruzzia disinformation doesn’t exist, Russian trolls don’t exist, and they most certainly don’t exist on Lemmy and even if they did I’m certainly not one of them”

            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_disinformation

… Russia, however, denies that it uses disinformation to influence public opinion.[7]

Often Russian campaigns aim to disrupt domestic politics within Europe and the United States in an attempt to weaken the West due to its long-standing commitment to fight back against “Western imperialism” and shift the balance of world power to Russia and her allies. According to the Voice of America, Russia seeks to promote American isolationism, border security concerns and racial tensions within the United States through its disinformation campaigns

Do you get that like as a text you need to learn before going online or why is is almost word for word the same for each of you. Pretty much the exact same thing Davel@lemmy.ml replied to me the first time he replied.

It’s the best laugh I get, seeing people like Davel pretend they’re not Russians, and actually are redblooded Americans.

But yeah, I understand not everyone is Ruzzki, but Ruzzkis never admit to being Ruzzkis, because of how thrash everyone knows what an utter shit Russia is on the global stage, so all the lil вахтераs pretend to be from other countries to not face criticism.

            Pathetic, really.

English is their official language but i believe there are a lot different languages spoken there, the main one is like a version of english that is very different to actual english. But i haven’t been there so maybe look it up if you want to know exactly. Scots and Irish people can also be hard to understand if they speak ‘their’ english. But Nigeria and Bangladesh were colonised by the British and that makes them better english speakers than many other poor countries with cheap labour.

Musk is both stupid enough and narcissitic enough to have legitimately thought his charm and personality were making MAGA flock to him on his own personal “I need my ego stroked” site. It’s quite possible it never even occured to him that none of it was real.

This is just xenophobia but based on a server of origin rather than a country of origin.

Are there many accounts on .ml that spout utter shite? Yes. But the same can be said for many servers.

Does that mean you should espouse hatred towards every account on .ml? No.

As Samsy said, post history is free to view. Along with comment history and even vote history if you can be bothered. The algorithms used to sort posts on Lemmy are available to look up, they’re pretty standard algorithms based upon up/downvotes, time, and comments. Twitter doesn’t have that openness, it manipulates the feed based on whatever they desire to rise and fall.

хеллоу феллоу тексанс, хау ду ю ду?

But seriously though, how did they even get on Xitter in the first place if it’s officially banned in Russia? I just checked, and indeed, about half of the people speaking Russian there are marked with “Connected via Russian Federation Android App/App Store”. But for myself it either says “Web” or “United States” because I have to juggle like a dozen of VPN’s to find a combo that is both accessible by me and not blocked by X (formerly twitter). And yet, the 14 year old girls, who are the majority of Russian-speaking twitter users, are supposedly just waltzing in without doing any of that, just to goon over k-pop idols and post tiddies? The fuck is roskomnadzor even doing then? lmao
