Hey at least there’s posters on the wall and an attempt to make the space livable! And he offered her a cold drink!

I loved hanging out with the single bachelors in my slut phase, but good lord, most of those guys were very content with a single chair and a TV in their apartment and only those things.

My partner is rather autistic and part of that is not caring about how his surroundings look. Very practical person. He doesn’t understand why I like having our house decorated, but he does understand that it makes me happy and he likes when I’m happy. It works out nicely sometimes!

            An unexpected, but pleasant surprise!

My ex had very strong opinions about how our house should look - strong enough to push all of my wants out of the way - so this is a nice soft place to be in the aftermath :)

If they didn’t care about home décor and just wanted to get laid, and the lack of home décor didn’t prevent them from getting laid, it sounds like they had things figured out pretty well.

Indeed, and it’s a good reminder that trying to improve myself based on the things that women complain about in their sexual partners is like armoring up combat aircraft based on the bullet holes in the ones that come back. It took me way too long to figure that out.

Furniture-wise, what are we even looking at, though?

I think I see a dresser on the left and a green couch on the bottom right that appears to be pointed at a randomly placed refrigerator. Maybe it’s a bed, but I think the shape is more like a couch. So, that’s furniture from a bedroom, a living room, and a kitchen, all in one room.

Even for a studio apartment, this would be a very weird arrangement of furniture.

“Come, sit on this couch so we can stare at my refrigerator.”

I had an ex-girlfriend who had grown up in her father’s antique shop and inherited all his shit when he died. Watching Antiques Roadshow with her was a trip because she knew the value of everything almost to the exact dollar. However, this had greatly distorted her perception of the acceptability of some things. She had an authentic “Ein Reich, Ein Volk, Ein Fuhrer” poster from the 1930s and I had to convince her that she couldn’t just put that shit up over her mantelpiece and expect to have friends.

Ideology of УПА is atrocious, but i should give the respect for fighting both Nazis and Tankies. Wolyn massacre is also a really bad incident that shouldnt have happened. But to be fair, forceful assimilation, violance, hate, and even concentration camps for ukrainians in wolyn at the time are obviously going to spark a rage in ultranationalists, but at the same time doesnt justify massacre.

Why write it in Cyrillic if majority of people can’t read it, and even those that know Cyrillic struggle to read it effortlessly. You could just say UPA and Right Sector, both are recognized English translations that have a Wikipedia page. No meaning is lost by translating them from Ukrainian to English.

Specifically a rather famous design used by the Ukrainians during the Russian Civil War and more specifically their war of independence, while obviously not official because y’know anarchists it was wide spread enough to be a known variant. Though they also just sometimes flew a straight up black flag, though the one I want is the one with a skull and crossbones with words in Cyrillic that I cant read.

Artist is named KAWS. The artist is a contemporary artist that uses brand icons, like the Mickey Mouse looking statue on the desk. It’s all very cheap and empty art that I guess some people eat up. He basically just slaps the stupid skull on everything and calls it “art”. Tons of merchandising, very capitalistic.

I updated my response to you, but the artist is very notoriously apolitical and really has no message behind their art. Their art basically only exists to sell collectibles and merchandise while appearing trendy. It’s all empty capitalistic garbage.

I didn’t recognize it but that’s because I forgot I read an article on this guy. Probably because he is forgettable. In fact I think this is at least the third time I’m reading about him and then forgetting he existed. Pop artist 60 years late to the pop art party, seem trying to get Beeple level attention but only willing to put Jeff Koons level effort into it. Annoyingly, with much success.

So now knowing who it is, that’s the third strike that sells the comic. He only has one figurine on display, and he probably wants to make an impression, so he thinks this one by a ‘cool subversive contemporary artist’ makes him look grown-up and a man of culture.

While the Thanos bit might be artistic hyperbole, picking the Joker as a role model is more common irl than it should be, and is a legitimate red flag, considering that Joker stans tend to romanticize his relationship with Harley Quinn, which is very much an abusive, manipulative one.

When looking for a mature, emotional healthy & safe partner, Joker fans should be avoided at a costs.

People are attracted to these characters because they are well written tortured souls not petty misanthropes. Joker suffers from untreated mental illness and an unrequited quest for acceptance that is relatable but something that most simply internalize and suffer with. Like Thanos there is an element of relatable humanity there but with which he reacts in the most horrible of ways.
Thanos seems almost doomed to exist. Someone or something keyed the universe to have an option to partially destruct. That this is possible via a specific programmed sequence of events implies that it was meant to happen at some point. Thanos feels the time is now - that survival requires this destruction and that he is called to enact it. Its intentionally unclear whether he is acting through evil or that his innate power calls upon him to bear a cross of necessity that serves a greater good through a horrible act.

Also it’s just fun because they are make-believe, they aren’t hurting anyone or actively encouraging anyone to do harm. It’s like being repulsed by someone playing violent videogames - such a superficial empty judgment to pass.

I married a man who likes Dragon Ball Z enough to have several of the mangas, so don’t get me wrong here. Some of this stuff doesn’t necessarily bother me personally, but there’s a certain reputation that fans of the Joker get and picking Thanos of all the Marvel characters is a choice.

Gaming is hit or miss - if someone is into gaming so much that all of their decorations are gaming related, it begs the question if they are willing to make enough time in their life for you around their hobby. And I say this as a gamer myself. It’s known to be a hobby that people dedicate a lot of time toward.

It’s like once you start putting together MG or higher then it’s not just a toy anymore, especially if you start doing the modifications or lights. It helped me with mobility when I broke a couple fingers last year. The funny thing about gunpla is I was shopping in Akihabara and there were Japanese businessmen buying them, and I mean with grey hair. Even the clerk, who also was older, was like ‘oh Gundam’ heh
